Shipping
More and more goods are transported by sea on a global scale and cruise liners are also enjoying an increase in popularity. For economic reasons, many ship operators choose heavy fuel oil as a propellant. The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued guidelines for limiting pollutant emissions of heavy fuel oil powered ships. In order to continue an operation with highly sulphurous heavy fuel oil, the ships are refitted with scrubber.

OilGuard Ex M
The OilGuard Ex M complies with the IMO standard MEPC.107(49) Guidelines and Specifications for Pollution Prevention Equipment for Machinery space Bilges on Ships and 46 CFR 162.050
The OilGuard Ex M works on the fluorescence principle. The design uses a non-contact measuring cell that eliminates contact between the sample and the flow cell. This ensures that the measuring cell remains clear from contamination and the drift in results that follows. If water doesn’t touch optics, the windows won’t foul.
The OilGuard Ex M is the most dependable instrument available for monitoring potential pollution from bilge water in hazardous environments and with extremely low maintenance.
The instrument can be returned to factory calibration using the included highly stable, mono-crystalline calibration checking unit. Recalibration requires no consumables or tools to return the instrument back to factory calibration.
OilGuard 2W
The instrument is used for monitoring oil traces in raw, surface run-off, process and wastewater. As a result of the non-contact (free-fall) measurement, there is no drift in readings as a result of window fouling. Another benefit of this design feature is the extremely low need for maintenance. This instrument is for non-hazardous applications.
No external operator interface is required as the colour touch-pad is integral to the analyser.
If the environment is hazardous, please refer to the OilGuard Ex
The turbidity value is important for the assessment of water quality and as an indicator of the effectiveness of the water treatment. By continuously measuring the turbidity of water, resources for water treatment can be better targeted. This will minimise your maintenance efforts and reduce the cost of treatment substances.
AquaScat 2
The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable, recycled and raw water according to IEC 27027 using 90° scattered light detection in a non-contact, free-falling water stream. This contactless design eliminates window fouling and eliminates the need for regular maintenance (other than an annual filter change).
Calibration is performed either automatically (AquaScat WTMA) or manually (AquaScat TWM or HT) with a calibration checking unit specific to that instrument.
With a range of 0-4,000NTU, the AquaScat is sensitive enough to be used for post-filtration potable water to a heavy rain event raw water. There are 8 pre-set 4-20mA measuring ranges in the AquaScat, but any of these can be easily modified to suit your specific purpose (see the AquaScat video on setting your own measuring range).

Oil mist detection serves to monitor the often unmanned machine and hydraulic rooms on tankers, LNG ships, etc.
VisGuard
The Sigrist VisGuard is your partner in the safety and monitoring of road and rail tunnels. To ensure safety in a critical tunnel application you need to have dependable information on
- Visibility measurement
- Ventilation control
- Early fire/smoke detection in road and rail tunnels
- Dust concentration in air
- Detection of oil mist
Visibility, CO concentration, and sometimes NO concentration are vital criteria for assessing air quality in road tunnels. These parameters are used for controlling the ventilation system in order to minimise energy consumption and also for closing down the tunnel whenever pre-established safety limits are exceeded.
The VisGuard is available in different versions: In-situ, Extractive or Mini-extractive Installation

Gas Recycling Program
Once the calibration gas cylinders are relieved of pressure they are NOT considered hazardous material or waste. Nearly all of our mixtures contain only a very small amount of a hazardous chemical(s) as a minor component in the gas mixture requested. The fact that it is such a small amount (usually in the ppm range) always precludes the gas mixture from ever being classified as hazardous.
Our EcoSmart cylinder program is an environmentally-friendly way to reduce waste caused by empty cylinders. We have six EcoSmart cylinder sizes and offer a free, easy way to return used cylinders for future use.
