Technical Description – OilGuard 2 Ex
The OilGuard Ex is the most dependable instrument for monitoring mineral oils in hazardous environments with extremely low maintenance. The OilGuard Ex is doing service on many Australian oil platforms today.
The most common solution we offer is the non-contact measuring cell, due to the number of contaminants that will cause staining on the optical windows. If water doesn’t touch optics, the windows won’t foul.
Ultrasonic cleaning or wipers attempt to remedy a problem that the Sigrist OilGuard avoids by design
The OilGuard Ex specs include:
- 0 to 1,000 ppm oil, with the Range set to 0-50ppm
- IECEx certified
- Hazardous area (Ex px IIC T4 Gb)
- Ambient Temperature: -20 to 50o C
- IP66
- Outputs: 4-20mA standard and digital ouputs
- Also available: Ethernet, Modbus TCP, microSD-card
Optional: HART, Profibus DP, Modbus RTU
Summary of Advantages of the OilGuard Compared to Alternative Options
- No Fouling: By opting to use the non-contact (free fall) measuring cell you will avoid the fouling issues that alternative suppliers attempt to remedy with Ultrasonic cleaning or wipers. Self-Cleaning is NOT required.
- Sample Conditioning: The Sigrist Sample Conditioning system keeps the oil mixed with the water to provide a homogenous sample stream past the measuring cell. Additionally, it maintains a constant head pressure, sand/silt diversion.
- Light Source Compensation: The Dual Beam optical setup continually monitors and compensates for UV light source degradation to provide dependable data day after day
- Calibration: Calibration checks performed with a highly accurate, homogenous and stable monocrystalline calibration cell to bring back to factory calibration accuracy. (No consumable or solvents are required)
- Oil Specific calibration: The OilGuard can be calibrated to ISO standard or your own specific sample
- Data Logger: Internal data logger with 32 days of storage on micro-SD card.
- Lab Sample take-off: Included is a sample take off point immediately after the measuring cell to enable the most accurate comparisons with Lab readings
- PVDF Nozzle in Measuring Cell: By using a PVDF nozzle instead of stainless steel, the chance of fouling on the nozzle is eliminated.
- Easy Maintenance: The Measuring cell is separate from the Ex-p enclosure and can be opened for maintenance with 2 thumb screws without switching off.
