Spyglass SG50-F-IR3-V

Spyglass™ flame detectors offer the fastest detection of fires and explosions, providing the opportunity to reduce or prevent damage to property & equipment.

The SG50-F-IR3 flame detectors provide unrivalled response, high performance, and reliable detection for hydrocarbon fires such as natural gas, gasoline, diesel, & jet fuels.

The colour or optional near-infrared video technology in the SG50-F-IR3-V allows visualisation of these fires which are often nearly invisible to the human eye. Video capture of a fire event includes one minute before the alarm and up to three minutes after the event.

Rugged stainless steel construction and accessories such as weather shields, air shields, and pole mounts allow use in the most rugged and challenging conditions.

Description

Technical Description – Spyglass SG50-F-IR3-V Triple IR Flame Detector

The Spyglass SG50 IR3 and IR3 V are the next generation of the IR3. It has been introduced to further enhance the protection and safety for these high risk and high value industries.

The Spyglass SG50 IR3 and IR3 V will detect fires and explosions extremely fast, thus allowing preventative action to be initiated even more rapidly and minimising the consequences!

Spyglass Flame Detectors with Integrated High-Definition Video

High-Definition (HD) Camera allows clear imaging of fire at 100 ft. (30m) distance. Connecting to a video system allows remote verification of fire, allows the first responders to be aware of the exact situation before entering the hazardous area, and can be used for post-fire analysis of the cause of the fire. Video recording of 1 minute pre-event and up to 3 minutes post-event is captured by the detector.

Video units are available with either colour or near-infrared video. Colour is best for hydrocarbon fires and to give a realistic view. Some fires from fuels such as hydrogen and alcohol can be virtually invisible to the human eye, and do not show up well on colour video. Near-infrared video is best for these hard to see fires as it more clearly shows the extent of the flames.

A Closer Look

The unmatched detection times and distances are:

  • Highest immunity to false alarm
  • Triple IR uses three wavelengths in the infrared spectrum from 4.0 to 5.0 μm to detect hydrocarbon fires.
  • HD, or composite, video output with automatic HD video recording of events on IR3-V
  • 5 selectable sensitivity levels
  • Ultra-fast detection within 40 milliseconds for fireballs or explosions
  • Fast flame detection, <1.5 s for standard fire up to 30 m. Option for <0.5s, in compliance with NFPA 33, available
  • Optimised CO2 L option for aircraft hangars, helipads & truck loading racks available
  • Detects up to 262 ft. (80m) for a 1 ft (0.1m²) n-heptane fire
  • Event logger: Alarms, faults (& videos for IR3-V) are logged to non-volatile memory
  • Universal outputs, 3 and 4 wire, 4-20 mA sink / source, Fire, Auxiliary and Fault Relays. RS485 port using Modbus RTU
  • Built-in-Test (BIT) – Automatic and manual internal self-test of window cleanliness and the overall operation of the detector.
  • HART® 7 units available – Easy configuration and diagnostic capability, including dirty optics warning for preventative maintenance needs.
  • Window heater to avoid condensation and icing.
  • Stainless steel tilt mount with horizontal and vertical adjustment
  • SIL 2 compliant – suitable for use as part of a SIL 2 compliant safety system
