Applications

Optimise the control of your water treatment process with non-contact and thus maintenance-free turbidity measurement. Continuous measurement of the turbidity of water after the filtration systems assists you in monitoring the effectiveness of the filtration step and in detecting any filter breakthroughs.

AquaScat 2

AquaScat 2

The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable, recycled and  raw water according to IEC 27027 using 90° scattered light detection in a non-contact, free-falling water stream. This contactless design eliminates window fouling and eliminates the need for regular maintenance (other than an annual filter change).

Calibration is performed either automatically (AquaScat WTMA) or manually (AquaScat TWM or HT) with a calibration checking unit specific to that instrument.

With a range of 0-4,000NTU, the AquaScat is sensitive enough to be used for post-filtration potable water to a heavy rain event raw water. There are 8 pre-set 4-20mA measuring ranges in the AquaScat, but any of these can be easily modified to suit your specific purpose (see the AquaScat video on setting your own measuring range).

The AquaScat measures the turbidity of potable water according to IEC 27027, with the measurement carried out through multiple process connection options such as immersion tube, in pipe (metal or PE), in vessel. There is also a retractable option which allows the AquaScat S to be withdrawn for CIP and maintenance.

Calibration is done with a checking unit that has no consumables which enable the operator to return the instrument calibration to factory calibration.

AquaMaster is a compact multi-parameter measuring system providing critical information on: turbidity, pH, conductivity, Redox, dissolved oxygen and temperature. The “brains” of the AquaMaster system is the AquaScat, with the colour touch screen being the central operator control and display unit, as well as being the combined connection to the host control system. Up to 8 measuring values can be transmitted. The measuring station is delivered pre-assembled. The AquaMaster then requires only power and the connection of water inlet and water outlet, then … Measure!

Optical colour measurement detects contamination such as suspended solids, dissolved organic carbon, humic substances, bacteria etc. The colour number in Hazen is often used as an indicator of the degree of contamination.

The control unit SICON offers all possibilities of full system integration using various interface options. A SD card is standard and can be used for data logging with almost unlimited storage capacity.

The SICON is available as a control unit for a single instrument, or the SICON M Control Unit which allows simple operation of several instruments up to a maximum of 8 measuring channels.

DOC measurement after activated carbon filtration gives information on the saturation of the activated carbon. This DOC measurement enables you to regenerate the activated carbon in time. On-line monitoring of the DOC at the outlet of the water works usually has an alarm function and helps to ensure process safety.

Nitrate is the main source of nitrogen for plants. When the soil is heavily farmed nitrogen fertilisers are used. Other sources are as are septic systems, wastewater treatment plants, dairies and natural conditions. Excess nitrogen can lead to the growth of algae which can clog water intakes and use up dissolved oxygen which then kills fish kills and deprive water sources of oxygen. There are reports of Nitrates in drinking water being harmful to humans, particularly young children, and being potentially carcinogenic.

Nitrate is one of the most common groundwater contaminants in rural areas. Higher nitrate levels can pose a direct threat to health, but they also indicate the possible presence of other more serious contaminants, such as bacteria or pesticides.  Nitrate in groundwater originates primarily from fertilizers, septic systems, and manure storage or agricultural spreading operations.

The Sigrist ColorPlus 3 offers you online measurement of nitrate. We use a long-life xenon flash lamp is which offers a well-defined light spectrum over the wavelengths we require with a very low loss of intensity.

BactoSense

BactoSense

This automatic flow cytometer has been specially developed according to the needs of the water industry for the microbiological monitoring of drinking water. The BactoSense does not and cannot replace your Laboratory. Rather it is a tool to be used for very rapid response to a bacterial outbreak or even for a sensitive change to the bacterial profile(Sigrist call it your “finger print)”of a part of your water treatment process, and other important applications. For example it can be online 24/7monitoring the outlet of your WTP. If an aberration is detected, samples can be brought to the BactoSense to determine the location of the bacterial incident. Similarly, because of its portability, the BactoSense can be taken to remote parts of your distribution network for a spot check, as well as your recycled water plant….even Council swimming pools.

 

Optimise your ozonization process by continuously monitoring the ozone content using our ozone monitor. With this control option, you can ensure optimal disinfection and thereby improve the economic efficiency of the process. Any residual ozone in the exhaust air must be decomposed by catalysts or by thermal treatment. Measuring ozone at the outlet of the residual ozone destructor ensures that the legal requirements regarding residual ozone concentration are observed.

The ColorPlus O3 analyuser can be setup to measure ozone in either gases or ultra-pure water. Let’s have a brief overview of both versions.

Measuring Ozone O3 in Water: The Sigrist ColorPlus 2 O3 Ozone meter for ultra-pure water measures the ozone concentration at a wavelength of 254nm according to standard DIN 19627 and the IOA (International Ozone Association). This instrument has a special measuring cell with a path-length of 100mm which allows measuring ozone in ultra pure water in the ppb range.

Measuring Ozone for Gases measures the ozone concentration according to standard DIN 19627 and the IOA at a wavelength of 254nm. According to these standards, the extinction coefficient is 3024 l/mol cm. Therefore, the ozone measurement can be regarded as an absolute measurement requiring no calibration with ozone.

Once the calibration gas cylinders are relieved of pressure they are NOT considered hazardous material or waste. Nearly all of our mixtures contain only a very small amount of a hazardous chemical(s) as a minor component in the gas mixture requested. The fact that it is such a small amount (usually in the ppm range) always precludes the gas mixture from ever being classified as hazardous.

Our EcoSmart cylinder program is an environmentally-friendly way to reduce waste caused by empty cylinders. We have six EcoSmart cylinder sizes and offer a free, easy way to return used cylinders for future use.

Digester gas, a term with a somewhat negative connotation, has become an important component of alternative energy generation in some countries. The A131 is a high output 131dB(A) @ 1 metre electronic siren in a compact and easy to install package. Using up to four speakers, it can be mounted in a variety of ways for applications with sound coverage requirements up to 300m.

The AquaScat measures turbidity of potable, recycled and  raw water according to IEC 27027 using 90° scattered light detection in a non-contact, free-falling water stream. Calibration is performed either automatically (AquaScat WTMA) or manually (AquaScat TWM or HT) with a calibration checking unit specific to that instrument.

With a range of 0-4,000NTU, the AquaScat is sensitive enough to be used for post-filtration potable water to a heavy rain event raw water. The ColorPlus O3 analyuser can be setup to measure ozone in either gases or ultra-pure water. Let’s have a brief overview of both versions.

Measuring Ozone O3 in Water: The Sigrist ColorPlus 2 O3 Ozone meter for ultra-pure water measures the ozone concentration at a wavelength of 254nm according to standard DIN 19627 and the IOA (International Ozone Association). This instrument has a special measuring cell with a path-length of 100mm which allows measuring ozone in ultra pure water in the ppb range.

Measuring Ozone for Gases measures the ozone concentration according to standard DIN 19627 and the IOA at a wavelength of 254nm. According to these standards, the extinction coefficient is 3024 l/mol cm. Therefore, the ozone measurement can be regarded as an absolute measurement requiring no calibration with ozone.

The ColorPlus Ex, in both inline and bypass configurations, is designed to accommodate up to three different light sources (UV and visible range) for the measurement of color, DOC and concentrations. For example, one (or two), of the colours can be used to measure concentration, and the third light source can be used for turbidity compensation, if turbidity is a potential complicating factor in your process.

This ColorPlus Ex version features a flameproof encapsulation and is offered for installations in areas requiring explosion protection.

The OilGuard works on the fluorescence principle. The design uses a non-contact measuring cell that eliminates contact between the sample and the flow cell. This ensures that the measuring cell remains clear from contamination and the drift in results that follows. If water doesn’t touch optics, the windows won’t foul.

The OilGuard Ex is the most dependable instrument available for monitoring mineral oils in hazardous environments with extremely low maintenance. The OilGuard Ex is doing service on many Australian oil platforms, FPSOs and Refineries today.

The instrument can be returned to factory calibration using the included highly stable, mono-crystalline calibration checking unit. Recalibration requires no consumables or tools to return the instrument back to factory calibration.  Furthermore, the OilGuard can be calibrated to your own specific oil profile by Sigrist during manufacture of your OilGuard, or by your team on site.

This instrument is for application in a hazardous area. If your proposed installation is in a safe are, then the lower cost OilGuard 2W may suit you better.

The simple and proven technology of digital Linear Heat Detection (LHD) cable, makes it a product of choice for difficult and challenging applications where other technologies struggle to work. With it’s ease of installation and low maintenance it also provides a cost effective solution where project expenditure requires to be kept at a minimum. 

The sensing cable is formed from a pair of twisted steel conductors each with temperature sensitive insulation and then an overall Nylon outer sleeve. When the temperature sensitive insulation reaches it’s predetermined alarm temperature the two conductors short together providing the digital or switched signal. The cable can be connected to any unit capable of monitoring a switched signal, i.e. Conventional fire panel, addressable switch monitor unit or PLC.

Floating roof storage tanks usually contain highly flammable products which can potentially cause catastrophic fires. When the fire is not detected early it can cause significant loss of plant, down time of production and in severe situations even risk to life. These can have a large financial or environmental impact. 

The main cause of fires is the ignition of flammable vapours leaking from a worn or damaged rim seal. 

Early detection of the incipient fire is paramount for any fire suppression measures preventing the growth and spread of the fire. The design and size of storage tanks can differ with each operator and site, requiring a flexible solution to meet individual needs. With its ease of installation and low maintenance Linesense digital Linear Heat Detection (LHD) cable provides a cost effective answer. The LHD cable can be cut to length as required and a single cable can protect the largest of storage tanks. 

Linesense Linear Heat Detection cable is simple and reliable, providing uninterrupted detection along its length ensuring the complete circumference of the rim seal is protected. 

The LHD cable installed around the rim seal of a floating roof tank requires an electrical connection between roof level and a junction box at the top of the tank wall. The connecting cable needs to allow for the rise and fall of the floating roof as the tank fills and empties. The cable reeler automatically adjusts for the movements of the roof, dispensing cable out as the level falls and reeling cable back in when the level rises. The Automatic Cable Reeler is installed at the top of the tank wall and provides a four-core cable to connect to a junction box located on the tank roof.

The greatest fire hazards in power generation turbines come from lube oil. The normal turbine temperature operation, on bearings and some pipes, is higher than the ignition temperature of the lubrication oil used for these equipment.
