Sound Velocity and Concentration Measurement Solutions

ProDetec supplies sound velocity-based concentration measurement solutions for Australia’s brewing, beverage, food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries, delivering continuous, inline measurement of liquid concentration across two-component and three-component process streams where sound velocity provides an accurate and reliable concentration measurement instrument for the application.

Where density-only approaches struggle, sound velocity concentration measurement works well in emulsions, CIP chemical streams and solvents, and in applications that need two dissolved components resolved independently. A single-principle concentration measurement device cannot deliver the required accuracy in these cases.

For sound-based applications, ProDetec’s main concentration measurement instrument is the Centec SonaTec. This inline sensor measures sound velocity through piezo-element pulse transmission and converts it to concentration using Centec’s proprietary polynomial library, which was developed over 40+ years of laboratory work covering acids, caustics, emulsions, solvents and beverage products.

For applications requiring simultaneous density and sound velocity, the Centec CombiTec combines both principles in a single concentration measurement device, enabling three-component solution analysis including original gravity, extract, and alcohol in brewing.

With over 22 years of experience and local engineering support across Australia, ProDetec supplies, commissions, and supports the full Centec sound and concentration measurement range.

SonaTec

SONATEC is a highly precise sound velocity sensor for determination of sound velocities and concentrations (e. g. of acids, caustics, emulsions or solvents). The sensor can be used for instance for phase detection and for monitoring of crystallization processes.
